Elsie was a farmer's wife and homemaker. She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown (serving as a Sunday school teacher), Emanuel Martha's Society, served as the treasurer for Lutheran's Womens Missionary League, served as a 4-H leader for 18 years, past president of Crothersville Senior Citizens, and Extension Homemaker County Office member. Elsie enjoyed helping people, lending a helping hand, traveling with Toby tours, making quilts for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and being active in church. Born March 16, 1920 in Jackson County, Indiana to the parents of Otto and Rosine (Pottschmidt) who are both deceased. On February 8, 1942 she married Richard H. Kiewitt who passed away on April 23, 1989. Survivors include, a daughter and her husband Deborah and Dennis Gleason of Memphis, Indiana, a son and his wife, Larry (Ida Mae) Kiewitt of Seymour, Indiana, five grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Wilbert "Bill" Gladys Pollert of Seymour. She was preceded in death by a sister Mildred Otte and a great grandson Michael Kiewitt on October 4, 1996. Rev. Scott Kozisek will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Dudleytown with burial to follow at Emanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 to 8:00 PM at the Lutheran Community Home Chapel, in Seymour on Tuesday, January 13, 2010 and after 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the church.
