A 1952 Crothersville High School graduate he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after graduation. Sonny served one tour in Vietnam; during his 20 years of service he received many medals. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1972. After retiring he worked for Champion Spark Plugs for ten years in Toledo, Ohio, Jefferson Proving grounds for nine years and cut wood with his father. Sonny was a member of the First Baptist church of Crothersville, Life Member of VFW # 1083. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, trapping, fishing, camping and bowling. Born July 10, 1934 in Crothersville, Indiana, he was the son of Lawrence “Lab” and Dorothy (Robbins) Schill who preceded him in death. On May 5, 1956 in Chicago, Ill, he married Margaret (Kelly) Schill, who survives in Crothersville, Indiana. Other survivors include, three children, William (Phyllis) Schill, Austin, Indiana, Julia Ann Tenney, Toledo, Ohio, Kevin Ray (Debbie Schork) Schill, Nabb, Indiana, seven grandchildren, David Ray Schill (Christie Ritz), Crothersville, Wayne Schill, Crothersville, Tiffany Schill, Ohio, Andy Schill, Toledo, Ohio, Jennifer Tenney, Toledo, Ohio, Jeffery Tenney, Toledo, Ohio, Bobby Schill, Toledo, Ohio, two step grandchildren, Amy Graybill, Austin, IN, Karen Brown, Scottsburg, IN, five great grandchildren, Austin Schill, Toledo, Ohio, Eian & Hadden Brown, Scottsburg, IN, Brooklynn Robbins, Crothersville, IN, Alberto Perez, Vandalia, Ohio, two brothers, Francis D. (Sue) Schill, Crothersville, IN, Denny E. Schill, Crothersville, IN. Two brothers Ricky Schill and Robert Allen Schill also preceded him in death. Reverend David Schill will conduct funeral services at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at Adams Funeral Home in Crothersville, with burial to follow at Crothersville Cemetery where the Crothersville VFW post #1083 honor guard will conduct Military rites. Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Adams Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM on Wednesday at Adams Funeral Home.
